Japanese Spell Checker

Interestingly, multiple google searches for Japanese spell checking support for Mac OS X have returned very little. I didn't find anything that was useful for me. I probably need to search in Japanese, but that's too difficult for me right now... I still can't read very well, even with a dictionary (although I did just write a long praise for google translation tools a few minutes ago, I'll try using that).

Meanwhile, I think I'll write on mixi and ask if any of my friends know anything about installing spell checker support for Japanese.

Usually spellcheckers are app-specific. For example, I have to get separate spellcheckers for OpenOffice and for Firefox. Is there a particular app the you want to use it in?

Well, there seems to be global spell checker support for English (if I understand correctly), I was hoping to find out how to enable the same for Japanese.
But in terms of apps, you know, Firefox, Mail, textEdit, etc.

Huh, I didn't realize that OS X has a system-wide spellchecker. Neat. Too used to Windows I guess :P

There's a Japanese help page for using the OS X Spell check feature...but I don't see Japanese listed in the languages, and from what I've read, you cannot add new languages to that list.
